Guess What?
I finally came across a spot with a lot of quality fish. I initially went fishing for White Bass at the Berlin Dam in Ohio. In the past I have not fished this late in the year but I don't want to end my season yet. I know there usually are good White Bass fish that hang out at the bottom of the dam and I was wanting to catch some.
Once I arrived and started fishing I caught a small 10 inch walleye. I was happy because that was the first one I had caught all year. Fishing off land for walleye is hard for me so don't make fun. haha.
I had to take a picture to show off my small walleye since it was too small to keep. At Berlin Lake the size limit is 15 inches to keep walleyes and this walleye was too small.
Shortly after catching the walleye another was on my line and then another after that. All of them were about the same size. I was so excited and ready to catch a keeper walleye, but the more I fished, the more small walleye I caught.
I ended up catching 44 walleye between 10 and 12 inches long and none big enough to keep. The Ohio Division of Natural Resources must have just stocked that part of the dam because all of those walleye I caught were about the same size. The other thought that I had was maybe someone else came before me and caught all the bigger walleyes and left the smaller ones behind. Whatever the case, I was hoping to catch at least one big walleye to keep.
It was not the exact fishing spot since I was not able to keep any fish, but it was a lot of fun catching all of those fish. On that trip I caught the most Walleye ever at one time. |
